You can't MAKE anyone feel anything.
Rise above the situation rather than sinking to its level. Let them see you as strong and able to overcome obstacles, rather than trying to look weak and pitiful. Living well is the best revenge.

It is called the victim role. They place their responsibilities onto another by attaining pity. The secret is that you cannot MAKE anyone feel sorry for you because you are not in control of someone else's emotions. They make the choice of feeling sorry for you based on your actions, and if they knew your intent was manipulation than they will never feel sorry for you, and may even feel disgusted at how your treating them.

1) Come up with a good sob story, preferably one that involves someone close to you dying a tragic death (ie: my Grandmother refused to do chemo, so the cancer ate away at her lungs, then moved up to her brain and destroyed it as well. during her last days she begged for death)
2) Cry
3) Make yourself the victim and make it the other persons fault
4) Get really quiet and shut down like you're so hurt that you've had to emotionally distance yourself from the entire situation.

You don't, they have to care enough for you before they do that. Or, let him or, her know that, (that you want him, or, or her to feel bad for you,.) and he or she will feel bad for you, lol. Ha, ha, ha,.
