Diesel exhaust and hot asphalt... sounds weird, I know, but my dad was a truck driver and when I was a kid he would take me with him during summer vacation. Now, every time I smell diesel exhaust and asphalt, a memory of my dad and me walking across a truckstop parking lot flashes into my mind. Those were really good summers.

I totally agree - I love the smell of lots of things!

Amongst these are freshly mown lawn, barbecue chicken, old-fashioned roses, department stores at Christmas, brown paper bags, the salty, sandy smell of the ocean, the smell of rain, freshly starched and ironed clothes, puppy breath, gardens freshly filled with bark chips, the smell of breakfast cooking, hot coffee, swimming pools in the Summer and my nanna's kitchen.

When my husband gets out of the shower and puts on his cologne and gets ready for work in the morning and leans down while I'm still half a sleep and kisses me good-by. It reminds me of the day we met.
