30 now, long list of failures behind me, love life, career, social life, would be friends, etc... Has anyone out there left it all behind and started over fresh somewhere new? (I know the B. Banzi "Where ever you go, there you are." bit.)
Short of packing whatever I truly need in my beater car and just leaving one day, does anyone have advice on how I can do this and have at least a CHANCE of succeeding at starting fresh? I’m going to need a job to survive, a place to live (to well, live.), and some means of creating a social network. I know that at this point in my life I’m prolly up a creek friend wise, but hey, its not like I’m surrounded by great folks now. Bloody pack of jackals at best.
If you have done it, or know anyone with no past to speak of who might be able to help, or even know of a place to start looking, I’d greatly appreciate any input you could give me.

Yes, I have done this and so has my wife, I'll start with her. She grew up in SC and hated it when she graduated from high school. She was ready to get her career started but it wasn't easy in the modeling business in a small place like SC. Within a week she made up her mind to move to FtLauderdale to live with her sister and start over there. I worked out well, she lived there for 9 yrs and had a very good career in modeling there. Also, when I met my wife, she had just had back surgery that failed and could no longer work. Within 2 months of meeting her she said she was ready to move to the beach and get away from all the people she knew and start a new life there. We moved together and it was one of the best times of my life and hers too. We loved it there, we didn't know anybody, but we spent some great time alone together on the beach and relaxing, Just be sure you go to your destination first and look for places to live and see what the job market is like there. It is never too late to start over and it could be the best thing you;ve ever done for yourself. I wish you luck and adventure,

You cannot run from yourself or your disappointments. Perhaps, you need to find out the reasons for your failures. It is so much easier to blame other people and various reasons for our mistakes, but it only sets the stage for the same problems in the future. Most of the time the problem lies within us. We are the cause of most of our own problems. Before you can move on, you must forgive everyone that you perceived to offend you, then forgive yourself. Examine your life and follow-up with corrective action to the areas of your life that you feel regret or failure. If it is all possible, seek wise counsel for a set of goals. Maybe, you want to start asking yourself the difficult questions in life. What do you want from life? What is your purpose? What is going to make you happy? Does God exist? ETC.

A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24 (New International Version, Holy Bible)

Where you gonna go? If you already know, then go to craigslist.org and click on the city you'd like to move to. There will be listings for jobs in any and every field that are hiring, there will be listings for apts, roommates, new and used cars, all that good stuff. Get your basic necessities down first, THEN start worrying about how you will "cope" with your new life change. Just remember wherever you go, you'll have a clean slate; don't screw it up this time, and good luck to you.

is this some sort of mid life crisis?

i believe you can never start all over. life is progression. it may feel good to leave your current atmosphere in search of new life but your past will always be with you so you might as well put it to good use and learn from it.
