My period has been way off lately (i posted a question about it and the responses i got were that it's due to stress) and I asked my boyfriend if he thinks I'm under stress and he said yes. I was out of a job for a little while, I'm a behind in school, and my family is disapproving of my interracial relationship with my boyfriend (whom I love more than life itself and will not leave him), which in turn has strained my relationship with my family. I'm often scared that I'll lose my boyfriend, which I think is a factor in my "stress". I always thought stress was for busy people (e.g. single parents who have to work double jobs to make ends meet). I don't believe I'm under stress, but if it's affecting my body and my boyfriend even tells me, then it may be it. I just think I'm being a drama queen but I can't solve it.

I need to move out (I love my family and all, but I just need to not live with them, that's all), but it's not possible right now. I can't sit with my family and...

...talk to them because they just won't understand (if they are the reason for my stress). I am 20 and it's not that easy for me to just leave the house whenever I please (i.e. I can't spend the night at my boyfriend's or just drive around town, etc.) so I want to know if anyone has any suggestions on how I can relieve my "stress"? It's killing me.

The first step is to take care of your well being so that you can better handle the stress. The second step is to remove the stress from your life the best you can.

When you feel really stressed, got outside and go for a walk.
Do deep breathing excercises
Talk to your boyfriend - is he supportive of your situation at home?
Go and see a psycologist or councillor - its not that scary and they can help you figure out a solution to your stress and problems.

Trust me stress can have a very negative effect on your health - both physically and mentally.

Ok, you are 20, it's time to leave the nest and journey out into your own world, but i understand the financial crunch on that. But If I can do it, you can do it.

Also, stop letting other people judge your actions. If you are doing what makes YOU happy, then it's nobody else's business and you will have to express that to those who judge you. If your family loves you, they will want what makes you happy. They will come to terms eventually.

Everyone goes through stress, it's a natural part of life, but when you decide for yourself that you accept who you are, and what you are about, then it doesn't matter what others think.

Life is about chances, and that will have stress involved, because it's impossible not to. It's how you handle it that makes a difference.

Try jogging, or fast walking... enjoy some scenery and clear your mind. Try Yoga.... Meditations.... Etc.

These things work!
It will all be fine..... Always has been, always will be.

Stress can be used to motivate us to make change. One way to cope with stress and make sure you are taking good physical care of yourself. the next thing is to evaluate what you are stressed about. If it is something that you can change then make the changes. If not, then remind yourself that things you can't control can be let go. the last thing you need to do is focus on what is good. I tell people they can feed their brains rabbit scat or they can feed their brains M & Ms and that will determine how happy you are.
