I've only just recently stumbled into this area and was dismayed and a little surprised to see how much hostility there is from some of the men and Christians/Muslims here. It's so very similiar to the hostility between the monotheists and...well, anyone who's not a monotheist.

I'd wonder why there were so many men in here to begin with, but I imagine you'd all find that as annoying as we do in the Religion & Spirituality Section when some newb asks why the atheists are there.

What I don't understand is why there should be so much hostility towards women who are on a path to seeking equality between the genders.

How could anyone consider this a bad thing?

why is it when one is telling a personal story...some one (usually being a freind) has to jump in and turn the story or subject about him/herself...and once again, usually starting like this..."I remember when something similar like that happend to me"...what's up with that? I'm trying to tell a story here!

I find it very difficult to go out without company. There are many things I want to do-shopping for instance-but I'm reluctant to face people on my own. I don't know, I feel exposed to their hostility and criticism. I do realise that I'm missing too much but I don't have the courage to change. I'm already seeing a therapist and I AM aware that the more out I get the less uncomfortable I'll feel but I just can't do it. Any suggestions?

prizes offered by the challenge would surely increase our contribution for the world in our little way by starting locally. acting local for global challenges & trees for the world is the solution to answer both poverty and climate change. seedling production for livelihood to answer unemployment. seedling production to untilized time productively and advocate seedling production in all our schools would answer global climate change. philippines is a tropical country, it will succeed. awareness raising is one of our first challenge. mass media fails in this part of the world. we are doing advocacy in the traditional way like banners & streamers. t-shirt uniforms to advertise our campaign. in 2005-06, est. 135,000 seedlings were planted and is growing well in our 64 ha. site. for 2007 we will continue demostrating it in our roads and highways. the activity is well supported by volunteers & the enthusiasm is strong. it will be much stronger and wider with ur support, wrldchallenge. thnx

there were 3 people in wheelchairs. one was a big guy, muscular, one was average, one was small. the people in the wheelchairs were making fun of the people who could walk, just like people who can walk sometimes do. anyway, the biggest one took a small person that could walk and lifted him high above him. the guy was kicking and screaming, trying to get free, but the guy in the wheelchair was just laughing. they took him underwater and they (the people in the wheelchairs seemed to be able to hold their breath easily escept for the smallest one), were sort of torturing the guy that could walk, he couldn't breathe. then, the smallest one in a wheelchair, tripped over a rock underwater and fell over. he couldn't get up and couldn't breathe and blood came out of his ears. i remember something similar happening before in the dream but blood came out of his nose. the biggest person and the average sized person were always in front of the smallest one. the smallest one died in the end, but

Sometime I experience unpleasant dreams, like being chased by zombies, wild animal, enemies etc. In my dreams I always had weapon but I sucked at it. I was so clumsy, missed shooting at them, my legs were so heavy that I couldn't even run away fast enough that I happened to lose the battle. Usually that woke me up and I'd be so angry at myself and couldn't go back to sleep.

But, sometime, when I was really tired I could go back to sleep and continued dreaming, only then I could kick their butts but even in my dream I was not satisfied because I KNEW I redirected that specific scenario to my liking.

Why was I such a loser in my dreams? In real life, I can shoot targets quite good, I'm a fast runner, and proven to know how to defend myself. I'm living a decent happy life and have very little to worry about, but these dreams sometime make me lose sleep and then got me cranky all day.

My ex left me to be with a one night stand, this girl embodied everything he said he never wanted. But she had his child. This happened before him and I got togehter. He was sooooooo depressed over her having the child, because he was ashamed. He frowned upon things like that and girls like that. Yet, he was at fault as well. When he went to be a part of the child's life, he decided to work things out with the mom. Well, I flipped out on him and told him in many horrible words what I thought of him. I never cursed or swore at him. But certainly did after. ANd he told me I verbally abused him!!??? And he couldn't beleive that I was like that, and that he didn't care for girls that cursed. However, it's ok for him to have casual UNPROTECTED sex with some girt he met one night. Was he defended himself, grasping for straws?? Or was he manipulating me into feeling bad or guilty? Or both. They are not together anymore, shockingly. but when I called him out on all this, he was very cold.

Is it just me or are there others out there who are frustrated with the imbeciles that say, "THINK FOR YOURSELF!" YET , those types ALL think exactly alike and don't dare stray from the cliche idea of what is "indivdualism." Truly thinking for yourself means YOU actually think for yourself. Don't take on an opinion that is labeled, "non-conformist" that is still just molding to some other group's ideas. Just because it isn't mainstream dosen't mean it isn't conformity. Besides this whole "alternative" thing...has become mainstream.
Anyway, I just was curious on other people's thoughts on the subject.

would you rather be wise or intelligent?

would you rather be a genius but introverted, or a slick extrovert (like James Bond)

computational speed and memory OR creativity and problem solving ability

go to an ivy league school and do good on tests only because you're discplined and study a lot (but aren't truly intelligent, can't 'absorb information' OR be intelligent and able to 'absorb' information, but lazy and only use your abilities when you are motivated to do so

above average in all fields (math, english, science, etc.) OR very good in one field and average in the rest

photographic memory OR very creative OR good problem solver

great, intriguing philosopher OR intelligent academically/in a certain field (i.e. biochemistry)

everything you want during life but destined to go to Hell OR live a life dedicating yourself to the happiness of others and destined to Heaven (not trying to make this a religious thing, i'm just saying hypothetically if they existed)

sex has absolutely no meaning other than physical pleasure. or it can be an expression of lovve with whoever. but saving it for a special someone is useless. sex is not a dirty act and it is not sacred or anything special either. it is just a physical act. if it meant anything at all that was supposed to be special then it would not be acted out in terms of physicality. there is no suxh thing as true romantic love. love is nothing more than a chemical reaction in the brain and us humans like to make it out to be more than it realy is because its pleasureable. but beleive me there is no such thing as true love. as a divorce lawyer i can tell you that a marriage almost always ends and the only time it doesnt is because the couple are either to old or to bitter to find anyone else and sticking with the partner they already have is a safer bet. so you dont have to make sex out to be more than something that it already is. just a meaningless pleasurable act.

do you agree?

John Nash suffered from schizophrenia. Ernest Hemingway suffered from severe depression. Issac Newton suffered from bipolar disorder. Van Gogh also suffered from bipolar disorder. Sylvia Plath suffered from severe depression as well as Virginia Woolf. All of these people were brilliant in their own rights. Is it safe to say that the smarter and more creative you are, the more likely you are to suffer from a mental illness?

I ask this because a friend and I were discussing this topic the other day, and she seems to think that my personality disorder is caused my high intelligence.

For the better part of the past ten years, I have been attempting to attract the interests of women by improving myself in ways to bring myself closer to what women CLAIM to find attractive in a man, and what they ACTUALLY find attractive (these are apparently different).

I have read many of the various dating guides, observed how successful guys behave in bars/clubs, and made every other attempt to determine what women desire so that I might fulfill this desire.

Despite this, I have been largely unsuccessful in attracting the interests of a woman. Over the years, I have succeeded in finding a few female friends, but they were never interested in being anything more then friends, and on very few (2) occasions have managed to find girls who were desperate enough to sleep with me for a single evening, and the last of these was over three years ago.

Despite my attempts to improve my personality, and appearance, I am admittedly quite ugly.

If someone puts a gun up to me, when i am alone outside and the person tells me to get in the car what do I do? my mom always told me "you let the person shoot you because someone will hear and help you" but i think it would be more likely that people would run for cover. My mom is the only person who would actually answer me...ive asked my therapist and friends and stuff and everyone thinks its absolutley ridiculouis and paronoid of me to ask such a thing. I just hate not knowing what to do should it happen and if i did what my mom says to let the person shoot me, id get shot, then probably taken with the person in the car and god knows what else would happen and then id never be seen again...but if i agree to go in the car the same thing would happen. are there any other options??
