If someone puts a gun up to me, when i am alone outside and the person tells me to get in the car what do I do? my mom always told me "you let the person shoot you because someone will hear and help you" but i think it would be more likely that people would run for cover. My mom is the only person who would actually answer me...ive asked my therapist and friends and stuff and everyone thinks its absolutley ridiculouis and paronoid of me to ask such a thing. I just hate not knowing what to do should it happen and if i did what my mom says to let the person shoot me, id get shot, then probably taken with the person in the car and god knows what else would happen and then id never be seen again...but if i agree to go in the car the same thing would happen. are there any other options??

I saw a programme where an American police officer said exactly what you should do in this situation:

1. He said you should NEVER get into the car because you are more likely to die if you do.

2. He then said you should turn and run as fast as you can because even if you get shot at least it will not be at point blank range and the further you get increases your chances of survival if you are shot....there is a certain distance where you will survive and the further you get away the less serious your injury will be.

3. He said don't run into anywhere that you will be cut off with no exit.

4. And finally that you should not run in a zig zag way in order to avoid the bullet because you probably won't avoid the bullet and also you are not getting as far away compared to if you run in a straight line.

I would also add that in order for a crime like this to take place there has to be an opportunity...so make sure YOU don't CREATE this opportunity. Don't get into situations where this could happen...be aware of who is around you and never get within arms length of someone you're unsure of.

I hope that helps.

the best thing to do of course would be to avoid a situation like this by changing the way your drive[or walk] home from work and do not repeat the same prcoess everyday...for example: wake up, go to work, go to an internet cafe, go home switch that around by not going to an internet cafe everyday after work. Things like that, switch it up.
Also try taking a self defense class so you could learn how to disarm a potential murderer.
Finally scream, as loud as you can. People most likely will hear a scream better than they would hear a gun shot.
Much luck! I hope you don't stare a situation like this right in the face.

Ask the police what is the best thing to do. And then let the rest of us know. I would like to know as well.

Take a gun safety course, get a concealed carry permit, and stop being a victim.

The experts say NEVER leave with the person. You have a better chance where you are...
