Most people are scared of dying, whether they admit it or not. I'm a nurse so I've seen lots of people die and I am much less scared of it now. There's a kind of peace comes over people before death and some of them talk to relatives who've already died. It's as if their relatives have come to help them die peacefully.
Lots of older patients have told me they are tired of life and are ready to die - and they're not afraid.
We all hope to die peacefully at a ripe old age but none of us can know when or how we'll die. So, don't worry about it - you can't change it. Just concentrate on living and enjoying yourself and try to spread a little kindness while you're here.

Yes there is. Why u r scared ???? If u go deeper into ur own thoughts u may find this out. If u can teach urself the art of relaxation it is help-full in every situation of life. Relaxation is not an easy exercise to be able 2 do, it takes time, lots of concentration and u need 2 keep doing it for the rest of your life. How often will depend on u. Once u have been able 2 clear ur mind even for a moment u will want to reach that feeling of euphoria again. It is a pleasant experience. Once u have mastered this u will feel more in control of ur life. Clary Sage in a bottle is a useful item to carry on u, however u must try to relax and believe it will work. Give this time to work also. It's a bit like--If u r anxious about dental treatment some dentist's can arrange a session with u breathing in gas, well u need 2 relax & breathe the right way for the gas 2 work properely, same thing as relaxing, or breathing in the Clary Sage. They have 2 be done right 2 work right.Hypnotherapy may help, although I believe this can be dangerous. People living in the Netherlands seem 2 b able to cope with death a lot better than most. They work to live & live 2 have fun, they really dont have the time 2 worry about death, they just accept it & get on with living. They r very family orintated people. These r only a few suggestions. I am positive there r more.
I believe it is the fear of the unknown which is the most scary.

Lynda M earlier states that both she and you are "too young to die." I've got some bad news for whoever needs it......

'There is no lower end age limit on death.'

[ Good health is just a way of slowing up what is 'inevitable.' ]

Basically, 'death' is not something that bothers me except, I don't want it to be a pain~full way out.

In the next few days I've an appointment to see a Professor at a hospital which has recently featured large in the Press for having had a BAD reputation regarding MRSA, amongst other things.

A few years ago a large heart valve of mine ruptured late one evening, and I basically woke up 4 weeks later in a Recovery Unit in hospital.

I had no 'Near Death Experience,' so I can assume that it was not my time to go and that the Consultant who worked on me in the theatres (more than once) was good at that he did. However, there is a ('hereditary') problem which has shown up on scans that requires attention and this other guy knows all about the area which is his speciality.

So, sometime in the near future I'm due to have another trip (I am guessing here too) to theatres where my life will be at risk.

Note: ‘Hospitals’ are DANGEROUS places. (more people die in them every year than anywhere else)

Note: 'Beds' are DANGEROUS pieces of furniture. (More people when using them than anything else).

Personally, I do believe in an 'after-life' and in reincarnation. But, if I'm wrong, then I'm not actually going to know about it.

Sash.

I'm afraid to die, that's why i was afraid to go onto roller coasters for a while. I actually though most people were afraid of dieing, then i heard this quote "A recent survey stated that the average person's greatest fear is having to give a speech in public. Somehow this ranked even higher than death which was third on the list. So, you're telling me that at a funeral, most people would rather be the guy in the coffin than have to stand up and give a eulogy." by Jerry Seinfield. I thought that was quite funny.

Yes, I am very scared of dying - I think about it all the time. I wish I could snap out of it sometimes. I started thinking about it more when I was about 35ish - I am 40 now. Before then, never crossed my mind. You get older and are more likely to know someone who has died - it makes you more aware of death. I fear the moment I die - being scared. I also fear dying alone or dying in a horrific way. I want to die in my sleep but not yet obviously. A lot of people are scared of dying. I am also scared of getting seriously ill - for the same reasons as above. Still, we should get on with living really!

When I was 26 I began to have these fears about dying. I'd wake in the middle of the night with a start and frighten the life out of my long suffering wife. I'd run all the way to the royal infirmary and see a doctor who would tell me not to worry, but of course that was the reason I was there, I was worrying about dying!, but I am around seventy now, and the years prepare you for the inevitable. I'm much more laid back now and take everything in my stride as it were, but it doesn't bloody stop me from worrying about dying.

It's quite common to fear the unknown. An example: A child at a funfair would be afraid to go on the ghost trains for he doesn't know what's waiting for him on the other side. His imagination runs riot. It may be the same with you, a fear of the unknown. After all nobody has come back to tell us what it's like on the other side. That is of course if you believe there is life after death.
There is no need to fear death. I know that's easier said than done. Look at it another way would you really like to stay on this earth for eternity? Think about it.

No I'm not scared of dying I'm more scared of being ill and even more scared of those I love dying. I'd like to go to sleep and not wake up NOT YET in years to come. I'm 49 a few good years in me yet I hope. Was in a coma for 11 days 2 years ago so guess I'm not wanted yet.

No.

I've always wondered about my death and when it would come for me.

The only thing I'm scared about is the pain that comes with it. As long as I die peacefully, I'm good to go. Otherwise, if it's a horrible car accident where I bleed internally for a few hours before passing away, then I'll have to pass.
