I'm well aware that there is still racism in this country, and nobody is left un-offended. But this question is about the double standards of today's (overly) politically correct world. Why are there Hispanic,Black, and Native American scolarships, but no scholarships for White males? And I haven't really heard of any Asian scholarships either. Plus, why is race considered in the hiring process for jobs and college acceptance? I know there are diversity standards, but why? Is that not being racists? I thought we wanted equality, not a game of "tag your it." I am white, but I'm a woman...so I've had my protests and movements too.

Common law would still apply, but other things, like not being afraid to say things, or dress a certain way, without being criticized by others or worrying what they think. You could finally express your love for your friend who you've liked for so long, or wear a rain poncho with slippers if you wanted to.

(I know I got this idea from an episode of the Simpsons.)

But, I always thought it was kind of a cool idea. What do you think?

I am of Indian origin, and I am currently living in America. I just want to know your view on whether this behavior is normal for any person:

Whenever I express my opinion on an issue, it is normal to get some provocative responses or remarks to it. But the thing is that when the person who says or writes such a remark is a fellow Indian, I just laugh it off and respond back to him in a humorous fashion. However, if this person was a European or American then I get very perturbed and wounded & start thinking that maybe I am wrong... is this normal behavior for any person? That is, tolerating whatever your fellow countryman says, but not what a foreigner says?

uuuuugh! I chose a human services field. I'm happy w/ what I do, and am blessed with a lot. I don't mean to b*ch, but honestly... doesn't it seem like it's just getting too too expensive out there? It seems like here in the USA, we pay so much more for less! Thoughts?

I have to do an essay for engilsh using and analogy. I need something that i can write 2-4 paragraphs. We're not supposed to use cliche ones though (ie: a mind is like a parachute:it only works when it's open, life is like a box of chocolates, etc.) if anyone can think of one that isn't SO popular and cliche that would be sooooo good. i was trying to change around the parachute one...but i need to think of another thing that only works when it opens so as to complete the sentence: a mind is like a _______ it only works when it's open. HELP!

'm 15 years old, and have to deal with an immature boy in 6 out of 9 of my classes. He steals my papers, unties my shoes, calls me ugly and fat ( when I'm not fat) and likes to just be plain annoying. He can sometimes be a normal human and have conversations. Sometimes he is even nice! I hate him when hes a jerk. Sometimes when I look around the classroom it looks like he is staring at me. Why would he? Joey says he tolerates me when he likes to make me miserable. I try ignoring him but he likes to be a pain. Are all boys this immature or just him?

We had a debate in French class and our topic was 'Can Boys and Girls Really Be Friends.' Put the basis on plationic friendships, with no romantic thoughts/feelings vs. friendships with one or both people have romantic thoughts/feelings for another. Going into the debate I was convinced boys and girls could just be friends, but after I was surprised when I went back in my mind and thought of every boy that tried to befriend me. Then I thought, eventually one of the boys would try to romantically persue me. This is now leading me to believe boys/girls cannot have a platonic normal friendship without once having a romantic thought about one another. This over course deals with people of the same sexual orientation. I have many gay male friends and I do know I can be friends with them because they will never have a romantic thought about me.

I want to see where people stand on this question, Why they think that, etc.

I know this is a silly questions, but I remember people doing it ten years ago or more and I can not remember why? It was when you got a new pack, you took one and turned it upside down and i think that was the last one you smoked or something. I dont know.

Toys, toys, toys, and building things. Fixing things and not having to pay someone like woman have too.. Hanging out and drinking a few. Working hard and using muscles. Making money. The kicker, the best part and many guys can agree the older we get the less thinking and obsessing about getting laid - Yes, it finally happens... So, tell me, whats so good about being a woman over 35's without a man in your life. Being a single guy can be easy and not to bad at all.. After 38 men start to really take in and enjoy occupying their mind with constructive things and pragamatic ways. But, woman, at all ages - All, I ever see is them depressed with woman issues or talking about guys and thinking about what guys they can get with. Womans interest peaks more in guys and guys interest lessens - just an observation I have made. Being a single woman without a kid must suck! Comments?

she talks about her fiance and her 8 month old baby all the time.
she is getting married in july and she is always saying how much the dress cost. how she is having her hair done. ect...

she goes on about this stuff constantly even if we are talking about something else like college work she manages to bring it into the converstaion.

she never want to hear about anyone elses personal lives.

also when the tutor asks us if we have any questions and i have one she looks at me like i am stupid and always has a sarcastic answer for whatever i say.

one of the other women on the course has noticed it but no-one else has.

she really pisses me off so much. but everyone seems to like her.

it isnt bullying

what should i do?
