I've got nothing against them - some of my best friends are psychologists! But they tend to be a touch odd. Why is that?

Here's the backstory, we met in church when she was 15, and I was 17.
We were somewhat involved and eventually got a little serious over the next year.
I left for college when I was 18. It was then that her dad (who's currently in prison), raped her and hospitalized her younger sister.
I found this out when I came back during the summer, shortly afterwards we broke up and I moved to Maine, leaving her in Cali.

This was 2 years ago, I now have a new girlfriend and all, but I randomly found my first gf on facebook just yesterday. I can see now that she is clearly NOT doing well, and I can't help my concern.

My question is, should I do anything to show my support?

Or should I let go and try to forget her (due to the fact that she has obvious emotional issues)? If so, anyone have any advice on how to do so?

Either way I think I need to face this problem now and get it out of my system. I mean she was my first gf and it wasn't your typical break up.

Thanks,
James

Most if not all of the African-Americans that were forcibly re-located to the Americas lost their heritage. Any genealogical research a young African-American could do into their family history would get as far as when their forefathers were slaves and have to stop there.
At this point in our history that would be many generations going back over a hundred years, but there it would hit a dead end.

How many generations of living in a country are required to be considered a “native”?

In other nations “lost in antiquity” is as good as native is it not? Except for royalty, after a couple of hundred years, most family trees are either lost or are fictionalized anyway.

The beltway parties buy votes by using fiscal and monetary policy to achieve " zero unemployment with price stability".

In order to stop this, the Federal Reserve act of 1913, along with the 16th amendment need to be repealed.

Have American citizen/taxpayer/voters become too factionalized into camps of left and right for this to occur?

What about the men? What makes women and children so special? Do we attach "innocence" to women and children? Is it our natural instinct to put women and children above men? Why aren't we even concerned with men?

What if a male TV presenter tricked a female contestant to put on a blindfold, and then he sucker punched her hard in the breasts or in the privates? THAT ALREADY HAPPENED!!!
And while the woman was on the floor in excruciating pain, embarrassment and humiliation; he laughed very hard at her, then he said a very fake “I am sorry, I am so sorry” while still laughing!!!
She pretended not to be too upset because she has a contract with the TV channel; and because she doesn’t want any scandal, she just wants to “forget” about it just like any sexual assault victim!
Amazingly the public saw it live on TV and did nothing about it; in fact they thought it was funny!!!
How can this be acceptable? Assault is considered to be a prank?! And on TV?!

i'm feeling very very confused lately; i'm 17 and don't know what to do after high-school, and my parents have important jobs and i have to do something that's at least as important as that, can't let them down. But the thing i've always wanted was to find true love and have a big familty. As i grew up i realised that's almost impossible... i mean, i don't believe in love anymore. i tried to find happiness in religion, but ... i just can't feel it and i feel very guilty because i can't truely believe in God.

is this normal? has it happened to you? if so, did it turn out ok? is it gonna get even harder than this?

Who is better at diagnosis? Who knows more? Who cares more? Who would you rather talk to? Do you think that they should both work together to help people? Are psychiatrists payed to much compared to psychologists? Tell about your preferences.

Often I think people want to go to a psychiatrist more just because they can prescribe drugs. Drugs aren't always the answer and many people have greater problems when the drugs that they take are the wrong ones, because they never actually found out what was really wrong with them in the first place.

I mean, doesn't a man have the right to be insecure about certain things? Doesn't he know himself best and know what his strengths and his weaknesses are?

Wouldn't a guy who is not insecure at all be the type of person who is constantly lying to himself, since nobody is perfect and we all have REASONS to be insecure.

Aren't women insecure about some things, too? They worry about how their hair looks, or how they look in a pair of jeans or how they look without makeup etc.

Well then, don't men have a right to be insecure about how big their muscles are or if their hair is balding or if their bank account isn't big enough etc??

How do you feel about nanaotechnolgy, what is your perception of it? Do you think this will lead to utopiean dream? or will the world get swallowed in grey goo? I'm intrested in the social aspects of how we as people will interact with the technology, rarther than tech specifics themselves. Why is it hyped up? Why are their protests about it? Will it be in the hands of the masses, or only those that can afford? What applications will we see, not just medical. Will we really all be alchemists or try to turn pencils into diamond? Will we see people embrace this technology, or will people fear it and turn away?

Simple things like knowing who is calling when the phone rings, to knowing a song is playing on the radio, I turn it on and it is. I also can foresee other things before they happen, and rarely do I speak about them because I think they are just a stupid thought, or the thought comes to me immediately before it happens. Anyone have any ideas how I can harness this or develop it into something more? I'm not crazy, I don't even believe in this stuff normally, but it happens to me way to much to deny it.
