uuuuugh! I chose a human services field. I'm happy w/ what I do, and am blessed with a lot. I don't mean to b*ch, but honestly... doesn't it seem like it's just getting too too expensive out there? It seems like here in the USA, we pay so much more for less! Thoughts?

Um... Kevin stud... I'm a teacher! I would say that that is pretty valuable to society. I live QUITE humbly. Your tone is offensive and mirrors poor communication skills. You've been voted OFF my questions island.

Yes. Costs for necessities keep going up [gas, groceries, medical care & insurance, real estate taxes, sales tax increases in some places], and in cases when they don't [$1 fast food menus, housing prices]--it's usually because there are too few dollars 'chasing' these goods. Local & state gov'ts are not getting the money from Washington they used to, the 'pork' keeps a-comin, everybody still wants theirs, and business certainly has more clout in shaping favorable policy than you do. Conversely, we have multiple cars, cell phones, VCRs/Tivo/premium channels, big screen TVs, I-pods, memberships to everything, portable computers, life-saving medical care, spas & salons, premium ice cream & coffee shops, everyone's been on a cruise...I dunno. Could the Amish have it right?

No, it is not. There are a ton of good paying jobs out there.
And the standard of living is higher than it has ever been.
Give up all of the innovations of the past 20 years and you will have a whole lot more money. Cell phones, computers, Internet, on and on and on....
You really would not like it if you had the standard of living of the 1960s, 1970s. Then you would really have something to complain about.

Actually no, the staples in life are getting cheaper compared to averages wages. But that doesn't apply to every single job out there, does it?
You are receiving a signal. The economy is telling you that what you do is not of much value to other people. Get over your sense of entitlement and do something the actually benefits other people -- you will be rewarded for that.

its true in the past 30 years minimum wage has only gone up about like 30% which is nothing compared to living costs which have at least tripled since then.
