While riding the other day a large healthy female Coyote tracked along with me and my horse. She stopped when we stopped and was watching us and was very calm. At one point she moved in front of us, stopping ever several hundred yards to turn and look as though waiting for us. This lasted for over a mile until I returned home and went inside the fence, she watched us a bit longer and then returned the way she came. I've been an outdoors person my entire life and have never had an experience like this.....

Lately I have seen raccoons get really close to people because the have been feeding them. Is that bad? Are you taking a big risk in trying to pet one?? Are they as dangerous as they are perceived?

My cat was just killed by this huge animal and we are trying to find out what kind it was.... HELP!! (10 pts!)
well my cat went missing a few months ago and we think she must have gotten attacked by another animal because she was very territorial. we never exactly found out what happened though. but today, i went outside cuz i thought i heard my new cat meowing and sure enough he and this HUGE animal were right next to each other and it almost killed my cat. I had to run over to my cat and pick it up and run into my house. I need help identifying what kind of animal this was. Heres a description of it:
Color: White and Black (More white than black)
Size: Spaniel
Very slow runner
Much bigger than a skunk
deff not a dog because it had these weird undescribably facial features
HUGE legs
If it makes a difference I live in a cold climate in Connecticut.
Please help me here!

I just thought of this today. In vertebrates, three groups have developed flight, reptiles, birds (I know, I know they're sort of reptiles), and mammals (bats). So why did only one group of arthropods (insects) develop flight? Any one have any info that I'm unaware of, or any theories?

We found this track in the Southern California desert near San Diego. It's not a deer, because we see deer tracks all the time. I am hoping the picture is clear enough for someone to identify what animal made it. Thanks!
