Zoology, wildlife Bio, Biology, Natural Resources, etc, etc, etc are more or less looked at the same. However of course if you are working with aquatics a marine bio or aquatic ecology degree is better, or with birds say an ornothology degree is best. With big cats, any general zoo/bio degree will work for starting out.

Many take on seasonal keepers, not only will it allow you to get your foot in the door and learn more, they tend to be the type of facilities that love to hire from within or anyone who has work experience. Even if it is not working with cats, still take the job. In zoos keeping experience is still experience no matter what the animal.
