"If a lower ranking female in a pack gets pregnant she will go off on her own and find another male and start a new pack."

If its not, please tell what would be because i know wolves will do somrthing simalar to this. i think every once in a while a lower ranking male will go off on his own 'nstead of the female. please help?

I am trying to design characters for a shor film I am making. I want to know why animals have their bodies the way they do. For example, horses, in a way, have knees on their hind legs and in their front legs unlike tigers and lions; they have elbows in their front legs. I wonder what benefit does one have against the benefits of the other.

Even after hibernation, they eat a lot to store fat for the next hibernation, so they probably can't afford to excrete any food they consume.

Evolutionary theory presumes that fish became amphibians, some amphibians became reptiles, from the reptiles came both mammals and birds, and eventually some mammals became men. Fossils give tangible evidence of the varieties of life that existed long before man’s arrival. But they have not produced the expected backing for the evolutionary view of how life began or how new kinds got started thereafter. The fossil record should by now have revealed beginnings of new structures in living things. There should be at least some fossils with developing arms, legs, wings, eyes, and other bones and organs.Darwin attempted to explain these huge problems by attacking the fossil record. He said: “I look at the geological record as a history of the world imperfectly kept, . . . imperfect to an extreme degree.” It was assumed by him and others that as time passed the missing fossil links surely would be found. How much progress has been made since Darwin wrote this?

This is about that baby polar bear, Knut, in Germany. Do we know why the mother rejected the baby? What are the reasons animals would do that?

There is a wild Cardinal that flies into my kitchen window over and over again every day. I'm trying to find out why. While it's a little funny, I also feel bad for the bird. I'm not sure if there is anything I can do for him.

Sorry to ask this question and it will probably be removed but I am interested to know...
I know that you can breed different types of dog together...and you can breed different types of human ie blacks with white and chinese etc...
Why is it not possible to breed a cat with a dog... or a horse with a camel etc?
Has anyone ever tried or do the genes just not mix because they know they are not compatable? Like a mutation...
Sorry this thought just popped into my head.. not like i want to try creating an elehorse (elephant and horse) or a shecow (sheep and cow) or anything ... just wondered if it could be done and if it ever has??? Is this how we get strange breeds of animals etc??

Another Brown Spider~ Please help ID?

I posted a picture a few weeks ago of a brown spider & asked if someone would ID it, (I have small children, so I'm a bit concerned about bites).

I got some great responses, (i.e., Hobo Spider, Wolf Spider, common brown house spider, Tegenaria house spider funnel weaver, Amaurobius hackled bandweaver & Brown Recluse).

I FINALLY found another one in the house (basement steps) & got a close up of him. I'd really like to rule out the brown recluse, as I've had spider bite dreams for the last few weeks.

Can anyone positively ID this?
Including out-stretched legs, I'd say you could place a quarter on top of it & it would be a perfect match for size.

Here's the link to my litle brown friend...
