I live in Northern California. Two small birds have made a nest under the eave of my house. They are about 8-9 in long, black with white bellies, and a small orange tuft near their necks. Their nest was made with mud, and they've laid 3 small, light pink speckled eggs in it. I feel like it's taking forever for them to hatch! I wanted to identify the birds so I can research how long it will take for the eggs to hatch. Can anyone help me identify them?

Do you just go out there and do it a few times before you get over this? I'd like to be on Animal Planet when I grow up.

When a bird dies naturally in the wild does it sit on a tree limb then die, falling to the ground? Does it die while in flight? And oddly enogh with as many birds as there are I just don't see their equivalent ever lying around dead? I know animals carry off many but that many?

Im looking for the most dangerous animal to man. I know what the answer is according to the number of fatalities they cause annually. If you know what it is, and can give me a brief explanation, I will award 10 points for the best answer. Im not looking for internet answers, and will not award any points for those.
Good Luck!

I'm watching King Kong, which made me curious. Is that simply a popculture creation, or do they actually bang on their chests?

This huge insect was on the back of my house tonight!! What is it? If you can tell me what it is, please tell me if it bites, whether or not it's poisonous...basically, will it hurt me??? It looks like a gigantic ant, but I'm not sure if it is or not! Here's the link to the picture.

I live in Northwestern Ohio and during the summer, I get this really weird bug in the house. It's a light tan color and is about 2-3 inches in length. It has a very thin body and about a million legs that are about half an inch long each.

I don't creep out very easily at all and this one just sends me running for the nearest chair...LOL

Does anyone know what price a banded alder borer (Saperda obliqua) would fetch? They're supposed to be quite rare.
