No, it's a reptile. If you've seen an animal that looks kind of like a lizard but has skin like a frog, then it's probably a newt or salamander. They are amphibians.

No it's a reptile. An amphibian lives part of its life in the water and part on land like a frog. They start out as a tadpole and change into a frog on land. Lizards don't do that.

A lizard is a reptile: a creature with dry scaly skin and five toes on its front feet. Lizards usually lay eggs, with shells, on land. Their young emerge as small lizards, but essentially the same body structure as adult lizards.
A salamander is an amphibian, with smooth moist skin and four toes on its front feet. Amphibians lay jelly like eggs in the water; their young emerge as small tadpoles or immature newts, that have a different morphology (body structure) to the adult animal.
Both amphibians and reptiles are studied by herpetologists.

Not at all.
Lizards are one group of reptiles such as snakes, turtles, and alligators.
Amphibians are a different group and include frogs, toads, and salamanders. It is this last group that sometimes gets confused with lizards because they look somewhat similar, but there are major differences in the life cycle and development of amphibians as opposed to reptiles such as lizards.
