Excerpt from Wikipedia....

The polar bear (Ursus maritimus), also known as the white bear, northern bear, or sea bear, is a large bear native to the Arctic. It is the largest land carnivore species and the apex predator within its range.

The polar bear is the largest living land carnivore, twice the weight of a Siberian tiger. Most adult males weigh from 400 to 600 kg (880 to 1300 lb) and exceptionally, up to 800 kg (1750 lb). The Kodiak sub-species of the brown bear, an omnivore, is sometimes as large. The largest polar bear on record was shot at Kotzebue Sound, Alaska in 1960. This male was estimated to weigh about 880 kg (1960 lb).[4] Mounted, it stood 3.38 m (11 ft 11 in) high.[5]

Females are about half the size of males and normally weigh 200 to 300 kg (450 to 650 lb). Adult males measure 2.4 to 2.6 m (95 to 102 in); females, 1.9 to 2.1 m (75 to 83 in). At birth, cubs weigh 600 to 700 g.

Since the Polar bear is twice the weight of the largest tiger (Siberian Tiger) it is safe to say that it is much larger than a liger which is a cross between a tiger and a lion, since the lion itself is smaller than the average tiger, the liger could not be bigger than a tiger or smaller than a lion but rather somewhere in between. Unless of course the suffer from gigantism, but they still are not as large and heavy as a Polar bear and the weight of the largest liger was estimated at only 1200lbs. Still they may be taller than a polar bear on thier hind legs as they often reach 12ft. That doesnt make them the largest land carnivore also since they only live in captivity and are sterile they really cant compare to a Polar bear as an apex predator.

Some scientists consider the polar bear an aquatic animal. It lives on polar ice which is, after all, frozen water. The polar bear does have some physical adaptations in it's paws, some webbing, I believe making it better built for swimming. The Kodiak is definitely a land animal but it is not a carnivore. It is an omnivore. So next in line is Siberian tiger and I believe it is entirely carnivorous except that the liger is bigger, it weighs more, so...yes, it is the biggest land carnivore if being fed strictly meat in a zoo can be considered a carnivore since it's not actually hunting, so it's not a predator.

Well, even if a particular liger was to exceed the weight and height of a record-sized polar bear, it could not naturally be considered the largest carnivore as it is essentially a man-made creation. There are ancedotal reports of ligers and tigons (tigons are smaller than either parent, the opposite of the liger) appearing in the wild in Asia, where lion and tiger populations overlap, but there is no solid proof.

However, there IS proof of wild hybridization between brown (grizzly) bears in areas where the two species overlap. Such matings have also occured in captivity and apparently some of the offspring did reach gigantic proportions, exceeding the size of either parent like the liger. Therefore, if we were to count hybrid species, the "pizzly" or "grolar bear" as they have been dubbed, would then be the largest terrestrial carnivore alive today!

The liger is a hybrid animal that probably exists
only in zoos. Lions and tigers rarely meet in the
wild so there is almost no chance of their forming
a natural hybrid. There is a very small population
of lions in India, but otherwise they are African only
Tigers are in Asia and a few in Indonesia.

Either the polar bear or the Kodiak brown bear is
considered the largest land carnivore. I haven't
seen any recent figures on which of them reaches
the larger size. Such figures are hard to get
reliably.

Liger Biggest

a tiger would probably be biger than a liger, because tigers actually are a bigger cat then a lion..therefore if you mix the two...it would be smaller than a tiger as it would be part lion. Polar bears are way bigger. Some Grizzlies would also be larger.

No the biggest land carnivore is the heaviest man from Guinness book of records, he is heavier then Liger, and hunts hamburgers and hot dogs.
Of course man is not purely carnivore but the heaviest man is still heavier then liger.

Neither. the two the saltwater crocodile and the polar undergo are considered marine animals considering the fact that they spend extra time interior the water than on land. in addition to Kodiak bears replace into bigger than polar bears whether polar bears have a heavier accepted weight.
