due to the weather changing so differently I was wondering if the ozone has anything to do with how people are towards the weather.

i'm reading an article about cloud nucleation, and it says that 'silver iodide features a crystalline structure similar to ice and could prompt snow formulation at warmer temperatures'. i also read that cirrus clouds are very icy, but it didn't say if they form snow, rain, or neither?

apparently its very still but the idea of standing in that uber calm and have total raging chaos around you intrigues me as does extreme weather especially wind and storms, a charged atmosphere like that is just amazing. Dont get me wrong i know many people suffer through extreme weather and i feel for them but its the actual phenomena and power that intrigues me not the destruction to life and property. Any comments or experiences would be great, also i am thinking of a tornado holiday so any advise or experiences there would be welcome too.

Fear of flying Welcome aboard

Sep 7th 2006
From The Economist print edition

...."Also, please keep your seat belt fastened when seated, even if the seat-belt light is not illuminated. This is to protect you from the risk of clear-air turbulence, a rare but extremely nasty form of disturbance that can cause severe injury. Imagine the heavy food trolleys jumping into the air and bashing into the overhead lockers, and you will have some idea of how nasty it can be. We don't want to scare you. Still, keep that seat belt fastened all the same."

Walking home just before a thunder and lightning storm one night, i saw 2 strange white spheres the size of a coconut float and seem to be suspended in the air for about 10 seconds before they hit a nearby powerline, when they broke up into 8 smaller golf ball size spheres before disappearing.
Has anyone else seen this strange phenomenon?

After being out in a plowed over corn field today, and it having dry soil with dried corn shucks out in this field and somewhat of a light breeze, not even 10 mph, and a September sun with temperatures in the mid 80s, I live about 35 miles from Memphis Tn. I saw more dust devils today than I have in the last several years combined. Many of these were small. Some were pretty good size though. I also noticed that they formed in roughly the same area. Three or four traveled the same path within maybe 100 feet of each other. They all with the exception of two or three would move west. I saw I think, 3 of them in succession. Watching them was really cool. I also like getting out into the center of 'em. But I got to thinking after seeing so many today (about 15 in the 30 minutes I was out there) that they may be more common than what I had earlier thought. You really can't see them except the debris they pick up and swirl around. (DUH!) What do you people think about their frequency?

I thought it was because it was filled with water, but if water is clear, then that theory doesnt seem to make sense. Does anyone know why this is?

It's raining outside. Would you get more wet by running or would you get more wet by walking?

Think about it. Running you hit puddles and the water splashes on you, but walking you spend more time in the rain itself rather than splashing in puddles made by the rain.

Pilots and observant people on the ground must have been seeing them forever. Did they not tell anyone or did scientists simply not believe them before they were officially 'discovered'?
