How do I find out if my school has been closed due to snow other than driving down there and seeing if Im the only car in the parking lot?

I live in an area of flat, open carse land. When the wind is strong it causes a whistling noise around the telephone wires. The telephone wires join the house just outside the bedroom, and the whistling is converted to a loud humming noise when heard indoors. This can go on all night and is becoming obtrusive to a good nights sleep. Can this noise be stopped in anyway without having to get the telephone wires moved? Even earplugs do not help!

We live in a one story house, with NO interior rooms. Our closets have mirrored sliding doors. Where should we seek shelter in the event of a tornado?

We just moved to Kentucky from NY where tornadoes rarely occur (I guess it is just too darn cold there). I was just wondering how often they happen in central KY (near Louisville) because they terrify me!
Thanks!

You are stuck in a blizzard. You need water to drink, and you're trying to stay warm. Should you melt the snow and then drink it or just eat the snow?"
