According to a Geological survey report (http://www.osti.gov/bridge/servlets/purl/6067683-2gpdkF/6067683.PDF) the temperature gradient in the atmosphere is 1 degree F per 1000'. The temperature usually gets lees the higher in elevation a person goes.

A little math 8000-2500=5500'

5500/1000=5.5 degrees

64-5.5=58.5 degrees F

All this is assuming the atmosphere is stable (the wind is not blowing and the are no convective air currents).
