I have no idea what the theories are surrounding this phenomenon, but my parents experienced it while Dad was stationed in Chicago in 1960. A ball of lightning came into the window of their apartment according to my mother, then just disappeared! She said it was really scary.

ball lightning is real. It's an off-shoot of static electricity and is formed by free floating plasma ions. If you are near a marina during a storm, look at the top of the masts and sometimes you will see a blue ball of light sitting on the top of them. The electrically charged ions on the masts get energised.

I saw what i think is ball lightning. I was out playing basketball and i looked across my nieghbors yard and saw this green ball about 3 feet across. It was creating its own light. It was there for like 3 seconds. Then it simply fell apart and to the ground. I think it made some crackling sounds as it fell.

well i have never seen ball lightning myself but i have heard several firsthand accounts of strange glowing balls going through peoples windows during a storm and then pop like an electrical bubble. Personally i think its cool to think its real and i hope to see this rare Phenomenon someday. cause lets face it, seeing a ball of lightning would be pretty damn cool.

Yes it is real. My mom was sitting in the living room when ball lightning came in the house and then simply disappered.
