Could prolonged use of fMRI on a single person's brain lead to any health complications. If so just how much time would one person have to be exposed in a given year? What would be the side-effects and why?

My husband was ill 1 day last year and our local hospital was not sure what was going on with him, but said every moment was critical and medflighted him to a hospital in Boston to be treated. He got there at 10:30pm and they let him sit in the ER until 5 am when they finally took him for a cat scan which took like 1 1/2hr. Then when the am shift was coming on work all the Dr's and nurses were all over him and they took him up for surgery which did not work. He was having a stroke and the swelling of his brain was too much, he died a few days later.
I think the hopsital neglected him all night and if he had received surgery at 11pm he may have been able to be saved.
I am now alone to raise 3 young children and I believe the hospital should have to pay for neglecting him. They were taken more care of patients with colds then they were my husband. Should I pursue with a lawsuit?

Modern technology has helped us learn so much about the brain but there's still so much we don't know. What kind of things are unknown? Is there some site I can go to directly ask a neurologist?

I'm a premed student, and today was my first day volunteering in the ER at the hospital. What's really bothering me (and I know I'll have to get over this) is not being able to know what happens to the patients that we see once they leave that area. There was one girl in particular around my age was a serious case, and she was one of the first patients that I helped. Its really bothering me now because I want to know if shes okay. Would it be overstepping for me to contact her via myspace or facebook? Or are there any legal restrictions on such actions? I don't have any thoughts of getting together with her or anything. I am just genuinely worried and want to make sure shes okay. I would greatly appreciate some feedback.

took my first dose last night and reading the bad side effects and withdrawals has me scared to follow through with taking it. I know I need something... and I am sure all other meds have their each and own upsides and downfalls.. I know it's not good to just stop cold turkey but technically I havent really started.. I wanted to look into it more and found I do not like what I see. It will help some people greatly and others say it's a deathly experience. I guess you never know until you take it. I am just afraid of what to take knowing it could become a downward spiral anyhow. It's like damned if ya do damned if ya don't Any honest advice would be so helpful... experiences and whatnot. Thanks♥♥

Our well water has tested positive for coliform bacteria. It has tested negative for E-coli. Unfortunately not even the public health can tell me what this means (fear of a lawsuit if they say the wrong thing?) We are renters and we have been trying to push our landlord to fix our well. It is a very shallow well with the top exposed (no cover), wood lining with roots growing through. Just looking at it, you can tell how unsanitary it is. Three weeks ago they promised to cover the well. This has not happened. Can someone tell me what exactly coliform is (other than a bacteria), where it comes from and what is the best long term solution for correcting this. Other than the well issues we love the house. Right now we use bottled water for cooking, drinking, brushing our teeth. We are bathing in the water and washing our dishes in it. Please help!

My doc ordered a 24 hr urine collection for me. While collecting urine for the test I noticed that there were a lot of sediments in it. What could they be? It kinda looked like little sand particles in the bottom of the sterile collection container. Should I be worried or is this normal?

I learned from some tv shows and articles that the "older brother effect" (the one where a guy who has more older brothers is more likely to be gay) is associated with the antibodies against the y chromosomes produced by the mother. Is this mechanism similar to Type II hypersensitivity? So, in theory, does it mean that we can somehow "reduce" homosexuality of a younger brother by treating the mother with some antibodies (against the y chromosome) right after the birth of the 1st baby boy so that the mother will not produce her own antibodies? Don't get offensive because I am gay myself, and I am just curious about it.
