I have some data; namely multiple results from blood analyses (eg 100 plasma sodiums). I need to work out the reference ranges from a distribution curve. Can you use MS excel to do this? I can't seem to find it in data analysis.

There is something that I have always wondered about giving medication at regular intervals. If you are told to give 4 doses daily of ibuprofen, for example, do you split the WHOLE 24 hours into 4, or do you only split the hours for which you are awake into 4?

Example - I need to give my daughter calpol 4 times a day at regular intervals - so does that mean administering te medication at 3am, 9am, 3pm and 9pm (meaning i wake her up at 3am) or do i discount her sleeping time and split the following time period into 4 (8am - 9pm)?

I really hope this question makes sense - my daughter is very sick, i took her to doc but forgot to ask this vital question!!!

I just read this article about pet medicines, and they were saying how, recently the FDA gave approval to some 40 pet medicines over the past 5 years.
How is this possible when there are critical human applications still clogged up in the works?
Does the FDA really have the time to investigate pet medicines before human medicines?

I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I haven't yet been diagnosed with it by a doctor, but I bought a book on it and the symptoms they list in the book are pretty much the symptoms I have. I struggle the most with getting trying to have everything I do be "just right." Lately, it's been controlling my entire life, to the point where I sort of "evaluate" every thing I do, seeing if it's "perfect enough," and if I feel that it's not, I "start over" and try to do everything better. When I make a mistake, I have to "start everything all over again." I know it sounds ridiculous, but can anyone relate to this or give me some helpful advice? I'd really appreciate it. :)

I would like to (hypothetically) determine what causes diffuse amyloid plaques to fibrillize and become classic plaques -- those which are are associated with Alzheimer's disease. Could someone with knowledge on neuropathology please give me detailed suggestions as to what kind of procedures and technology to incorporate in order to examine some of the cellular components involved in this problem??
Thanks a lot!

I have a disability and live in chronic pain. I am so frustrated by how those of us with 'unseen' problems are treated.

Most disabilities are NOT obvious. It seems people expect them to be; be in a wheelchair, or one's mobility so impared it's obvious; then they 'approve'. How arrogant! I have only so much activity I can tolerate a day, so I have to conserve this.

A person's medical condition is b/n them and their Dr. I get dirty looks when I park in the handicap space, and ugly comments. 'It doesn't look like anything's wrong with you!',or 'You don't look handicapped to me'.

I couldn't walk a year ago. After intense treatment, I get about with strict limitations.Though I still live in chronic pain, it's worse when walking. I didn't care about my apprearance and was very depressed.
I finally improved on this, and appear 'normal'.I guess I should appear on death's door to qualifty to park here. (I use my hc tag)
All due respect, most in w.c.'s aren't in pain, so curb access

I weighed a 50mg tablet of Zoloft and it weighed out at 150mg. So, is 50mg supposed to be the actual weight or just the amount of Sertralene HCl? What could the extra 100mg be comprised of? In other words, how do I account for the 100mg variance? Faulty scale? Mislabeled dose?
