could be viral, or a bacteria besides strep

Do you remember what type of test s/he ran? If it was a "rapid strep test", they can be wrong around 33% of the time. Your physician should also have sent a culture to be positive. The drawback is that the culture teakes at least three days to comfirm.
This could still be a viral illness at two weeks. If you are still having problems, by all means please go back and have them re-evaluate you.

do you have allergies? post-nasal drip can cause irritation, and burn like, well, you know what.
