Complicated question.

No one has ever studied the long term effects of ecstasy (MDMA) on cardiac function, muscle carbohydrate storage etc... So one just has to guess.

Most recreational doses of pure MDMA don't effect your heart rate much (however, lots of illicit ecstasy contains methamphetamine which does increase heart rate). So taking MDMA wont give your heart a work out. Because MDMA doesn't mess with your heart rate, it's also less likely to cause heart damage, like cocaine and methamphetamine can.

We also don't know how MDMA effects anabolic hormones.

Ultimately, the question is a big unknown, and if you're really concerned about your fitness, I don't sugest you take ecstasy.

Ecstasy increases your heart rate,so taking it when you are exercising is a heart attack waiting to happen.
