I am working towards my veterinary assistant certificate and have a test to take. One of the questions in the test, I'm kind of stuck on. It's multiple choice. The question is:

The nervous system that controls respiration is called autonomic because it?

A. is not subject to voluntary control.
B. uses nerves of the body.
C. conducts impulses.
D. deals with the exchange of gases.

I'm think the answer is A, but would like to make sure. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks!

My husband was in a terrible car accident about 8 years ago, he suffered a "smashed face" he aparantly has roughly about 52 screws and plates in his face. He never suffered a serious headache before then, but now he get's "cluster headache's" and these headaches he gets are so serious, that I've had to call an ambulance before. Yes of course we've been to the dr. and the Dr. want's him to see a neurologist, and he even mentioned a possible neurosurgeon? so he has an appointment in about a month. My question is what is the Neurologist going to do? what is he looking for? and why is he more qualified than the regular Dr. to help him with his headaches? One more question.. what is the job of the neurosurgeon? I am just worried about all these special titles. Should I be?

I've been put on antidepressants for my ADD (don't know how that works, but oh well) and my doctor didn't have a lot of time to explain the drug for me because he had a patient waiting. In other words, I'm completely in the dark about what I'm taking every day. My mom sets the pill out for me, and I really don't want to ask to see the bottle because my mom might freak out. (I've been really down in the dumps lately, and my whole family knows my suicide method of choice would be by medication overdose... I don't want them to go crazy, you know how parents are. x_x Always assuming crazy things.)
It's an orange pill, about the size of a dime or so. You're supposed to take it daily, until it builds up in your system. Can somebody identify it for me? I want to be able to research the side effects and so on. =/

Me and a buddy are having an argument. "Can THC actually be traced through urine after two weeks of sobriety?" We know what the rumors say, but does anyone actual know of a person who has tested positive after 2 weeks, and if so was this person obese?

Humm, not sure which one is true:
-Hearing loss associated with OM is always conductive and temporary
-Hearing loss during OM may adversely affect cognition and language

Both are NOT true, apparently. Thanks.

This "procedure" was recommended by my DO the other day as I have been having unresolved digestion issues. Wouldn't it make more sense and less embarrassment to have a colonoscopy or a scan of some sort?

This came up in a discussion I was allowed to witness. It seems there is a rare form of a cat that smells like a skunk in a foreign country that eats coffee beans at a certain maturity time and it's digestive system allows these beans to be processed to a point that they are chosen as the richest source for coffee, like $300 a pound.

Achondroplasia is inherited in an autonomic dominant pattern, which means one copy of the altered gene in each cell is sufficient to cause the disorder. About 80 percent of people with achondroplasia have average-size parents; these cases result from a new mutation in the FGFR3 gene. In the remaining cases, people with achondroplasia have inherited an altered FGFR3 gene from one or two affected parents. Individuals who inherit two altered copies of this gene typically have very severe problems with bone growth, and are usually stillborn or die shortly after birth from respiratory failure.
