so..if that is the case,,,are you expected to get the extra work done in the same amount of time as if you were NOT short staffed? Or does the management understnad and not blame everyhting on you if you are still at work past your 8 hours?

That happens more that I care to admit. I have worked at a place that expected the extra work done and us off the clock in 8 hrs, even if we weren't done. I didn't work there long. I also have worked at a place that understood and people would come in to fill in during a staffing shortage .

Working short at times is expected in what we do. I don't mind it so if the ones who are there will work. My patients come first and I don't really care if management understands or not. Sometimes you just have to do what you know is right in your heart(and in court)!!

Yes, we are very short staffed in our hospital and we are losing a lot of our nurses to the US.......it's very difficult to stay sexy and be over worked!!!
