Both are good. Doctors ain't doctors for nothing, right? My main doctor is a general practioner...An internist is not a bad choice either since they are hospital-based and well-rounded in medical education. General practioners are clinic-based doctors and they're well-rounded as well...they serve a whole family and that's what general practioners are for.

actually a general practitioner and an internist are the same thing. :O)

I prefer an internist and have one. She is a Diplomate in Internal Medicine
