Well Since i'm sick I had to wake up around 3 in the morning to get up and go to the bathroom. While laying in my bed I glanced toward my door and saw a white figure (not really the shape of a body, but kind of a wide straight figure). I simply got up thinking I was just seeing things and moved my way towards the door.

When i got to the door I tripped over something and glanced at the floor to see what it was. Down at my feet I saw a really light white light sitting there. I know for a fact that it wasn't a light in my room, because during the night I make my room as dark as possible, by shutting off all things that make lights..and since my house has alot of property, we don't have neighbors to give off house light.

I know that this wasn't an ordinary ghost, because I've seen alot of those! For some reason this one was different, because it didn't give me a fear of happiness but a good feeling.

Any ideas what this was?

I saw a quiz where you had to derive the total number of gifts received when the "12 Days of Christmas" is sung in it's entirety. I read an explanation but don't understand it!
The correct answer is 364 and on the 12th day a total of 78 items are received. Can someone please explain this in the simplest possible terms please? Remember we are counting items and not gifts therefore 5 gold rings is 5 items. Please don't post the Wikipedia thing....I don't understand that either!

I don't understand SNR. When I read Wiki (ofcourse the best reference on earth ;) ) - It saids that it is the ratio of meaningful information to noise. I need to use SNR with imaging modalities. And this is confusing because many things happen during the imaging process. For example a CT or MRI scanner has very complicated techniques to reconstruct the picture from the basic signals. It may use filtering, averaging, back projection, interpolation -who knows what more... but the original signal- information is manipulated: So at what stage should you measure SNR if you want it to reflect the qualitity of your imaging modality?

Another strange thing is that the SNR seems to reflect more what I am measuring rather than the measuring apparatus itself. For example if I measure velocity with something- the faster the thing goes the more signal I may get: so a higher SNR. -but this says nothing about the measurement apparatus itself.

Please help me to understand SNR.

Why isn't my pop- up blocker working on these annoying 'GAP' video splashes now gracing the pages of this forum?
Are there setting I can apply to knock them out, or am I relegated to just dealing with them over and over every time I 'refresh' the page to view and answer new questions?
This is well on its way to making me crazier than usual!!!

During colonoscopy the doctor scraped his lining, which caused his colon to constrict & not allowing any gas to escape. Doctor never called after colonoscopy - we took him to ER two days after colonoscopy. He had to have surgery - they removed 2 parts of his colon (the back end had a small rupture due to build up of gas) . Will be wearing a bag for the next 3 months for his feces, and then have to go back in to get everything reattached. Do we have a case for medical malpractice? We're pretty upset - can't think too straight, but not happy with whole situation. He'll be in hospital for the holidays, had to cancel upcoming trips, and he'll need some major recuperation time before he feels okay.

If The interior of Venus is composed of a central iron core and a molten rocky mantle, similar to the composition of Earth, then why isn't Venus projecting a magnetic field too?

A day on Venus (243 Earth days) is longer than a year (224.7 Earth days). The rotation is also opposite from that of Earth, with the Sun rising in the West.

Does the direction and rate of rotation have to do with the lack of a magnetic field?

I don't understand...

I have a Mars Question too...
