My triangular prism is made of perspex. I have tried using florescent lights, torchlights, but I still can't see the spectrum. Does it work only with sunlight?

What is your favorite math topic? Why? I love geometry because geometric shapes are so beautiful and geometric proofs increase my attention to detail.

What about you? Tell me about your math experience and what your favorite math topic is and why?

I got an early Christmas present and it was a Celestron PowerSeeker 127mm telescope and I am not sure how to use it and feel like I jumped in the deep end.

I am assuming the dial on the equatorial mount numbered from 0 to 90 is the degrees and if I am 37 sth from the equator I need to set it to 53 to point at the south something...

There are 2 other dials that I have nfi about and they are the right ascension setting circle and the declination setting circle. I would love if someone could help me figure out how to find a planet by using these settings because even though the moon is beautiful and exciting I really want to see the ISS on Boxing Day and the polar caps on Mars. TIA!!!

Well, this may seem like an odd question but it has bugged me for a while. I'm not so au fais with Biology, Genetics and the like so would appreciate it if someone could enlighten me. They say that every person is different and that all humans are 99.99% alike, I don't know if that is a true estimate. But within races, for there to actually be races, that is for people to be distinguishable as being Black, White, Chinese etc..wtih their own set of unique, discernable features there must be SOMETHING in the genes unique to each race which defines them - which gives them the physical traits that they possess as a race (such as curly hair or dark/light skin) and seperates samples of Human DNA from different races.

What is it?

I remember seeing on a medical show on TV (Famous Diagnoses) the extremely rare occurrence of people having more than one kind of DNA. For example they tried to take one woman's child from her claiming it wasn't hers because the DNA test came back and it showed no relationship. It later turned out that depending on where on her body they obtained the cells she had 2 types! One showed that indeed the girl WAS her daughter

Another woman had one DNA on one side of her body and a different one on the other. In fact looking closely, the skin tones were even different.

Can anyone tell me where I might get references to this kind of thing?
