They can and do investigate anything paranormal. It depends on the group or individual. I know many groups that investigate ghosts, Big Foot. Ley Lines, and experiment with many theories. Some search fro UFOs also but for me UFO' do not fall under the paranormal umbrella but many do and some go off into other realms like faeries, etc. Not many of these do but I have seen some.

Personally I think it is a waste of time but I have seen some experiment with folklore and legends. I have seen groups do the Bloody Bary thing if place has it in it's legend. I stay away from such things though as it smacks of childish imagination. Just my opinion though

The popularity of ghost hunting started with people wanting to see if there was anything to haunting. Most famous haunting are only legends but good tourist attractions.

Absolutely! Supernatural occurrences are not limited to ghosts alone. Ghosts are a more common phenomena then lets say, vampires (not that I've experienced any;-) so most groups tend to focus on investigations that are ghost related. My group investigates ANYTHING supernatural, even as far fetched as that may seem. I am not stating that I believe in every supernatural entity out there, I am only saying that if a client has a claim, my team will look into it! You have to look at things historically to really put it into perspective. There are a lot of myths surrounding different supernatural beings. Many of these myths carry from distant lands, but similar stories have been told on the other side of the planet. For example, in the case of "Bigfoot". We call it that in America, some cultures call it "Yeti". The same with werewolves and vampires. Although with cultural differences, stories are found on these creatures all over the globe. As I stated before, I am not claiming to believe in all supernatural beings, I am only stating that my team will investigate the claims that we are presented. Besides, maybe I'll find something very interesting one day if I keep an open mind. Hope that helps. If you have any other questions, feel free to look at my website: www.eastcoastscaresociety.com

Kudos on including skepticism in your investigation. Skepticism is a necessary part of any investigation, and certainly anything scientific. I would ditch the psychic. Even assuming that psychic powers exist (no good evidence that they do I'm afraid), what guarantee do you have that the "psychic" on your team just isn't getting carried away with their imagination? The "psychic" would just lead you on wild goose chases and make you look very unprofessional. Since you'll probably be investigating dwellings most of the time, include someone on your team with first-hand knowledge of house construction, electricity, plumbing and so forth. You should also have some understanding of basic physics as well as human psychology.

I think it would help if they didn't call themselves ghost hunters if they wanted to expand their investigations.
I have started and belonged to groups that had Paranormal, Anomaly, and Parapsychological in the name. This allows you to conduct experiments like Remote Viewing, Ganzfeld, ESP. test psychics, etc.
One could also justify sites like Stonehenge, Coral Castle, and other Natural (but odd) places.
One could certainly investigate Urban Legends. One of my haunting investigations turned into an UL investigations during the historical research phase.

It would be interesting to see how a ghost-hunting team would do at solving a hosted murder mystery.

It has many studies, many classifications and many categories. Crypto zoology, Psychic/ Mental Abilities, Ghosts, UFOS, Weird places. " we Study them all !!! ...

Ghost hunters can benefit from investigating the history of a particular area, the ownership of a property - investigate new detection methods, theories, equipment. They could also investigate the people making the claims.

If you go to the sci-fi website and visit Ghost Hunters, you will obtain some of that information. The Ghost Hunters debunk noises, they work for Rotor Ruter by day so they often find faulty pipes, heating units, etc.
Hope this helps.

I know the Ghost Hunters on tv can fix your plumbing as well. They say a lot of plumbing problems are mistaken for hauntings.

Ghost hunters can also investigate demonic posession.

They could investigate a box of donuts and some cups of coffee. If I was a ghost-hunter thats one of the things I would investigate on a regular basis.

Yes, if they are the right type of team. They will get rid of the so called ghost/deamons. They will help you to cope so you are not adding to the problem.

Yes...anything paranormal
