A space vehicle on reentry faces burning away like a meteor due to intense atmospheric friction because of which heat shields come into play. Now if it slowed down using onboard motors and leftover fuel, it could avoid atmospheric friction. Why does not this happen?

My dad LOVES ghost hunters on SciFi, and he asked for "something paranormal". I need to get somethign that follows teh scientific approach to ghost hunting that they use on the show (no wako stuff). Any good books, DVDs, investigation tools? We have a EMF detector, tape recorder, and thermometer already. Thanks!

I know that water is poor conductor. However, if you put your hand onto poor conductor, you should feel warm. But the fact isn't that, water is cold. What I want to ask is why water is cold?
Is that because water absorb the latent heat of vaporization from your hand? Or it is because they are fluid?

If I obtain a p value of exactly 0.05, is that generally considered to be significant? Or does it have to be less than 0.05? My accepted p value is p < 0.05 but someone told me that p=0.05 is also significant.

This is just like when you say it's 40 hundred when it really means 4 thousand. Please help me with this. I really need to know ASAP. Thx y'all ^_^

Ancient people how concluded that all glowing objects in the sky aren't star.
For me I always thought comets are fast moving stars with a tail,
planets also looked like star with a fix time schedule?
Is there any clue, which is noticeable to my bare eyes, that differentiates a star from other heavenly bodies in one gaze.
Please also tell me a method so that I can identify planets in night sky..
Thank you for your time.

Having had the experience this morning of a black scuttling horror in the shower, I wondered if this instinctive leg wobbling terror that overcomes many of us when spiders appear unbidden is confined to humans, or whether chimps react in the same way?

I have a situation where I need to look at a wall with a video camera. The video camera is mounted in a dusty environment where a constant flow of particles are moving downwards. I want to use pressurized air to remove the particles in the zone ahead of the camera. How should I design a device making it possible to blow away the particles in this area. Is it a matter of using many small pipes next to each other or generating different air speeds and hence different local pressures?

Thanks for your help,

Lucas Jensen
