76
If you had an 81 before the final, and the final is worth 20%, that means that the 81 is 80 percent.
80% is 4/5 and 20% is 1/5.
Just add 81x4 and 55, then divide by 5.
81x4=324
324+55=379
379/5= 75.8, which will round to 76.
You got a 76 in the class.

Well you take the 81 x 80% = 64.8 and then 55 x 20 %= 11.
Add the two and you will get a 75.8% or a 76% is they round to the nearest whole.

81%<-->4/5 final grade
55%<-->1/5 final grade
Final grade = [ (4 x 81) + (1 x 55) ] / 5 %
Final grade = (324 + 55) / 5 %
Final grade = 379 / 5 %
Final grade = 75.8% = 76% (rounded)

Your existing average represents 80% of the grade. To compute this weighted average, just take 81%*80% + 55%*20% = 81%*0.8 + 55%*0.2 = 64.8% + 11% = 75.8%.

81 x .8 = 64.8
55 x .2 = 11
64.8 + 11 = 75.8 (a C in the class)

A little below 76%, 75.8% if I did the math right. It looks like you turned a low B into a C by failing your final.

Some teachers and professors are kind and may consider this was not your exam since you did poorly. Obviously, you did well on the other exams so I believe that will count for something. Worst case is C, but you never know.
