It's my husband's birthday and he got himself a telescope. The user's manual says we can see saturn's rings and the moons of venus .... It has a diameter of 12 cm, I think. We havent's tryed it yet as the sky is cloudy here.
Whatever, I know there are bigger ones if your willing to invest a few more bucks.
Here's my question: What kind of telescope do you have and what have you seen with it? (How far away was the object?)

A 30 degrees-60degrees-90degrees triangle that has one leg of lenght 1 and the hypotenuse of lenth 2 units. Call this triangle T1. (note that the answer that you get from the calculator on this problem is not the exact answer but is an approximation of the answer. Do not use your calculator answer but find the answer algebraically!)

What is the name of the process that allows you to calculate the lenght of the other leg of this triangle?

What is the formula?

Calculate the exact calue length of the second leg (x)

Note-1 is on the left side of the triangle 90 degrees. 2 is on the right side. (x) is at the bottom.

I have a liquid-in-glass thermometer that will record the min/max temp that it experiences (a six's thermometer). But it only goes to -40F. I need a similar glass thermometer to use to record the minimum temp in a place that could go to -80F. I've found a few alcohol thermometers that will read that low, but none of them will store the minimum temperature (by way of the small index that floats in the column).

I read that canadian weather observers have ones that will record a minimum down to -94F, but I've yet been unable to find any such instrument.

answer: 45 miles per hour

2. rationalize the denominator
44x^4y / 16z^3
that whole fraction is under a square root sign
answer: x^2 (/11yz) / 2z^2

the / before the 11yz is a square root sign

3. solve for the variable
(w-4)= /(7w+2)
the 7w+2 is under a square root sign
answer: w=14
i dont understand why the answer isnt -1 also?

I'm 90,000 miles from a virtual planet at some distant point in space. From v=0, I begin accelerating to that point along a straight line. Passing through this point, I record my time and speed.

I do this again, but from 110,000 miles. I record my time and speed after traveling (accelerating) exactly 100,000 miles (10,000 miles short of this point).

While it is obvious t1 is 'less than' t2, I need to Prove V1(first trip)=v2 (second trip). 'average acceleration' will not work.

Yes, I tried astronomy/space

sorry if this question seems stupid. i can label the hypotenuse because its always the longest side and its diagonal. i was told that you can find the opposite because it's 'opposite' the right angle on the triangle, but i can interperate both sides to be 'opposite' to the right angle. so how do i tell the difference between the opposite and the adjacent side? thanks

If we assume the big bang theory is correct, in that the universe is expanding from an infinitely dense object taking up no space, it will one day contract/collapse to the same dense object and this expansion/contraction is a cyclic thing, what do you think is the likelihood that each cycle evolves human life or life of an equivalent level of advancement? ...and do you think there will ever be a chance for mankind to escape the big collapse?
