24x + 5 = 12x + 41
24x + 5 - 5 = 12 x + 41 - 5
24x - 12x = 12x - 12 x +36
12x = 36
12x / 12 = 36 / 12
x = 3

Put all the terms in "x" on one side of the equal sign and the numbers on the other

24x+5=12x+41

24x-12x=41-5

12x=36

x = 36/12

x=3

You first need to subtract 12x from 24x and you get 12x. Then you subtract 5 from 41 and get 36. Then your problem reads 12x=36. You divide 36 by 12 and x=3. Hope this helps.

Gather your x-terms by subtracting 12x from both sides, and bring that 5 to the right side by subtracting it from both sides:

24x - 12x = 41 - 5

12 x = 36

divide both sides by 12

x = 3

that's it! :)

push like terms to one end of the equal sign together. Say you move 5 over to the right you make it a negative and the 12x you move to the left of the equal sign you make a negative sign. If it were negative 5 you would add it to the other end. Then solve ..I'd do it for you but I charge to do people's homework
