39. Three of the primary components of air are carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and oxygen. In a sample containing a mixture of only these gases at exactly one atmosphere pressure, the partial pressures of carbon dioxide and nitrogen are given as P co2 = 0.285 torr and P n2 = 593.525 torr. What is the partial pressure of oxygen?

(A) How heavy a fish can the fisherman land if he pulls the fishup vertically at constant speed?

B: If he accelerates the fish upwards at 2.0 m/s^2 what maximum weight fish can he land?

I was on community security patrol about 10:00 pm., checking out some of the popular teen party areas in the woods near the river. I drove down a path to about 50 feet from the end, where there is about a ten foot drop-off to the water. Looking over the water to the northeast, I could see a fairly bright light, about as bright as Jupiter. With the airport a few miles behind me, I figured it was an incoming plane. It was at a low altitude, about 20 degrees.

I stayed awhile because it was nice and peaceful. I noticed that the light didn't change. After awhile, it was clear that it was not moving, so I thought it might be a helicopter past the other side of the river. There were no towers in that direction. It remained fixed. Even though this part of the sky is fairly bright because of Baltimore being nearby, I started to wonder whether it might be a supernova. I was a pretty serious amateur astronomer and got excited about that. I knew it couldn't be a planet.

Earlier I was telling myself it had been two hours and I could take another cough drop. Then about 20-30 minutes later I took one. The thing is, after I finished it, I realized I had been talking abiut taking one earlier. And I actually forgot if I took one that half hour earlier.

Now, if I did end up taking two in that short period of time (because you're only supposed to have one every two hours), um, what would happen??

Oxygen is combustible and is therefore can be used as fuel. Could our bodies become so efficient that we would not need to injest external sources of fuel? A group of people known as breatharians claim to have done just that.

A solid is formed by adjoining two hemispheres to the ends of a right circular cylinder. The total volume of the solid is 12 cubic centimeters. Find the radius of the cylinder that produces minimum surface area.

Here's what I did:
1. drew the solid. It looks like a pill.
2. labelled the radius of the cylinder "r" and the height "h".
3. Used the volume equation to solve for h in terms of r. I got h = (12 - 4/3*pi*r^3) / pi*r^2.
4. Plugged that value of h into the equation of the solid's surface area and simplified.
5. Differentiate but the equation looks messy. I don't know how I can set that equation equal to zero and solve for r.

Or if there's a better method, please feel free to teach me that.
