8•c² - 14•c - 15 = 0

or

(2c - 5)(4c + 3) = 0

to get 0 on the right, either
(2c - 5) = 0
or
(4c + 3) = 0

so:
(2c - 5) = 0
or
2c = 5
or
c = 5÷2 = 5/2 = 2.5

and
(4c + 3) = 0
4c = -3
c = -3÷4 = -3/4 = -0.75

8c^2 - 14c - 15 = 0
8c^2 - 20c + 6c - 15 = 0
4c (2c - 5) + 3(2c - 5) = 0
(2c - 5) (4c + 3) = 0
c1 = 5/2
c2 = - 3/4
