Which of the following methods would not produce ammonia?

(1) Heating a nitrate solution with aluminium powder in sodium hydroxide
(2) Heating ammonium chloride with calcium hydroxide
(3) Heating ammonium sulphate with sodium hydroxide
(4) Heating ammonium sulphate with dilute hydrochloric acid

The answer is (4)..Why is that so? I really don't understand...Please explain to me...Thanks

Because the NH3 would act as a base and accept a proton from the dilute HCL, thus making Ammonium; NH4

In water solution, ammonia is in free form in highly basic water. In neutral or acid water, it is in the form of ammonium ion (NH4)+.
