Allegedly, Einstein is to have said something along the lines of "The only thing incomprehensible about our universe is that it is comprehensible." However, I have long believed he said "The only thing comprehensible about our universe is that it is incomprehensible". Does anyone know which he said? And regardless, what statement do you agree with more?

All family trees show the descendents of an ancestor. The theory of common descent is that all life originated from single cellular organisms. Now, gradually during our evolution our quadruped ancestors became bipeds. Are we humans their only descendents or do non-human biped hominids exist, either today or in the fossil record?

My theory is that the first biped hominids had many descendents, whom we obviously share a common ancestry. Some were unable to adapt to their habitat, others returned to quadrupedalism and a small group did adapt and formed us humans today.

SIDENOTE: This transition was just a small part of our evolution and we can see that several hominid species account for this. But how about our magnitude of touch sensors and face muscles. There must be several transitional species for the evolution of each of these traits. We are familiar with the descent of man pictures, but in reality there must have been thousands of species involved in our evolution. Thoughts?

Since the earth is a sphere, the only way you cannot fall off it is if you were at the very top. But I am in California and I am definitely not at the very top.... So how can I stand still, it just makes no sense whatsoever...

As long as I can remember my aunty has had a "sixth sense" when it comes to paranormal activities. She lives on a fairly new housing estate built on the edge of Deepcut barracks in Surrey. When they bought their house there was a house which they viewed down the road and something was not right about it? Yesterday the woman who lives in this house came round hysterical (my aunty doesn't know this woman) claiming that her house is haunted by children who keep asking her what is happening to them. She also claims that Jesus sent her to my aunt? What is most disturbing is that the majority of people who have stayed in their house have died within days of leaving or someone very close to them has died, too high a ratio to be coincidence. I know this woman sounds like a nutcase but I believe there is something strange going on in that house. Is there any way I can find out what was on that ground before the barracks. I have tried googling allsorts but have had no luck? Any ideas guys x

....that Earth is the sole inhabited planet in the Universe?

The question that always comes up from those of the ilk that believes such nonsense is usually,
"Well if there is inteligent life why don't they contact us?"
can be simply answered in the assumption that these life forms that have the capability to contact us are of advanced intelligence and simply "know better" than to make contact with such a primitive, warring species.

Perhaps the analogy can be made in comparision to any one of us going into the jungle and trying to communicate with wild boar.

What might be the resulting consequences of that?

How can a supposed "intelligent mind" come to the conclusion that throughout the entire expanse of this Universe, we are the "best" that could come from either some Intelligent Design or a random fluke?

Is there any logic in the idea that the Universe exists solely to perplex us?
