I was recently watching the Discovery channel and if you go down some were em between 2 and 5 miles in the earth it start to get hot due to geothermal heat. In Russia they have drilled as far as 7 miles and there are salt mines in the U.S that have gone as far as 2 miles, they would be deepper but its to hot. Why not drill far enough down to insert or blow out a cavity to retain water and use the geothermal power to boil it and pip the steam back to a steam turbine giving us free power..

I am not sure on how to measure the rust on nails. Is it possible to scrape the rust off and measure the rust on a scale? Also does the weight of a nail increase or decrease when rust forms on it?

Wow, I feel like Jim Carray in Dumb and Dumber when he is like, "WE PUT A MAN ON THE MOON" wow. I was just reading a article about dinos on msn when it struck me, 67,000,000 years ago these animals ruled the planet. And then again, how the heck did they get so big? How long has Earth been around? Was there human life back then that hasn't been discovered? What roamed the Earth before dinosaurs? It is a great mystery that just has me thinking. What are your thoughts about life and how we got here. If dinosaurs were just created out of nowhere why can't they just be created again?

When looking at a model of the solar system, what caused all of the planets (RIP Pluto) to eventually settle on one plane? I would think that after the Big Bang all of the matter would have been scattered 3-dimensionally (which i'm sure it was), then why aren't the planets circling all over the sun? On the same note, larger scale, same action with galaxies.

The notes that I have aren't helping me much.

First problem:
A 9-foot board is cut into two pieces so that one piece is 5 feet longer than three times the shorter piece. Find the length of both pieces.

Second problem:
The number of women attending a math class was 9 less than twice the number of men. If a total of 63 students attended the class, how many were women?

I do remember doing these problems back in high school, but for some reason these are the only math problems I have trouble with! Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
