One way to look at this is to look at the differences...
3, 5, 7, 9, 11...

So the missing number would be 26.

The other way is to realize that each number is one more than a square:
1+1 = 2
4+1 = 5
9+1 = 10
16+1 = 17
25+1 = 26
36+1 = 37
etc.

The gradual difference in the numbers is odd number starting with 3 then 5, then 7 then of coures it has to be 9 since the next number's difference is 11.

So the missing no would be 17+9= 26
