When the 8th continent melts in the artic, I imagine that new fossils shall be found and uncovered. Since the continent is quite large, I'd imagine a lot of new species, dinosaurs, crustatians, mammals shall be uncovered. Do you think the thawing of the 8th continant will lead to the evolution or rebirth of the old DNA strands of the creatures that used to live there?

Just me and this guy fried of mine would be talking about fate and how things are becoming TOO coincidental. At the same time he got a blank text message saying "love". How do you get a blank text message? No name, no contact, no #. Then I got a blank one with the same message. He contacted the cell phone C.O. [Verizon] they had no idea. We got 16 blank text messages last night. He believed it was his aunt that passed over a month ago. Is it paranormal?

Just wondering what type of tree this leaf is from, long story from where my parents got it, it was in vermont. The best thing to say would be "where you found it" but that was not the case :)

here are the pictures:

I had a question about how to create mapping equations for physical chemistry. He mentioned it once in class, but it's nowhere in the book at all, and we need to use it alot.
Anyways, could someone please explain how to derive a mapping equation for example, finding the mapping equation for chemical potential at fixed T then fixed p.

Thanks!

I've often doubted Einstein when it comes to time dilation. The theory that time slows down the faster you travel.

The reason for my questioning is that all of the comments I've heard on the subject seem, to me, to suggest that clocks would slow down the faster they travelled.

None of the clocks I've seen measure time, the clocks count the number of oscillations or ticks, and knowing how long it normally takes to oscillate we can then work out the 'time'.

If that is the case, I can simply slow down time by 'rigging' a clock.

It doesn't mean that I've stopped or slowed down time - just the clock.

Am I incredibly wrong, or is there something to this?

in a zoology practical class, we were asked to check ourselves for ten traits and write down the gene symbols. the traits were in pairs such as widow's peak/no widow's peak, tongue rollers/non-tongue rollers, chin fissure/no chin fissure e.t.c. we were asked to pool the results for both sides and find the ratios for my department after which we were asked to reach certain conclusions for the results and explain the results.

Would Nasa send an monkey to Mars in preperation for a future manned mission? Could an aquarium be set up to enhance morale on the ISS? Could canaries be used to check for dangerous gases ala coal mines?

Ultimately, do animals (uh, barring Homo Sapiens) have any role in the cosmos anymore, or are they completely redundant?

Now, obviously, I'm not talking about nuclear waste - just the stuff from landfills - "clean" garbage, as it were. Wouldn't dumping trash in a active volcano like Kilahuea cause it to burn up/melt and return those elements back to the Earth? As for the satellites that are useless and make up space junk that eventually fall to earth, couldn't we just give them a push toward the sun? Even if they were to hit Venus or Mercury, who cares? Serious, scientific, intelligent replies please, thanks!

You have two bars of metal placed upon a table, 10cms in length and 2cms square. They are identical in every aspect apart from the fact that one of them is a magnet. When they are moved close to each other they seem to attract each other. Without removing them from the table, and with no other aids, how do you tell which is the magnet
