5 answers

x(x+5)=0

Then you just set x=0 and x+5=0 and solve for x in both; in this case, x = 0, -5.

x^2 + 5x = 0
x(x + 5) = 0

x = 0 or x = -5

you can put it into the quadradic equation so its:
x^2+5x=0
a=1, b=5, c=0

x= (-5 (+-)(square root)(5^2-4(1)(0)))/2(1)
x=(-5+5)/2, (-5-5)/2
x=0,-5

or

factor x out so its: x(x+5)=0
x=0, x+5=0
x=0, -5
