Not referring to bestiality. Scientifically, if you join human egg to horse sperm in a test tube and implant them in the womb --> birth of a centaur?

Nope. Can't happen with current science.

Well, I believe it depends on the number of chromosomes the animal has. There is no way a human egg can be fertilized with a horse sperm, but think about a mule. Mules are a cross between a donkey and horse.

> Can a human egg be fertilized with sperm from an animal?
Probably.
But... there would be genetic incompatibilities, and the "embryo" would die before any cell differentiation took place. You're not going to get a living offspring this way.

> if you join human egg to horse sperm in a test tube and implant them in the womb
Nope, it dies after a few cell divisions.

No, a horse and human are different species. This is where the word species comes from, in short animals that cannot produce viable offspring are labeled different species.

However you could take genes from an animal and insert them into the egg of another species as DNA is a universal code and this would work.

A human egg cannot be fertilized with sperm from another species. The chromosome number doesn't match, and the cross would not work.

No, animals don't have the right amount of chromosomes and their sperm won't be able to break into a female humans egg wall.

that can't happen because birth happens between the specific species not genus; we humans are called homo sepians and can reproduce within ourselves only. and so other species, they can only reproduce within their species. however there are 3 exceptions one of them is that horses can mate with donkeys are reproduce.
in addition, one of the reasons why we can't reproduce with other species, is the number of chromosomes we have. the number of chromosomes are different.
i hope this kind of answers your question.

No. The essential difference between one species and another is that they can not breed.
