How many grams of steam at 100 deg. C would be required to raise the temperature of 43.6 g solid benzene (C6H6) from 5.5 deg. C to 30.0 deg. C?
Hfus for benzene: 9.87 kj/mol
specific heat for benzene: 1.63 J/g x deg
Hvap for steam at 100 deg. C: 40.7 kj/mol

Could you explain how I would go about solving this?
Thanks!

I have a chapter test tomorrow and I cannot understand how to find the maxinum profit using linear programming. Here's a similar question to the one on the test. It's not homework. Please help. Thanks.

A lunch stand makes $.75 profit on each chef's salad and a $1.20 on each Caesar salad. On a typical weekday, it sells betwween 40 to 60 chef's salads and between 35 and 50 Caeser salads. The total number has never exceeded 100 salads. How many of each type should be prepared in order to maximize profit?

Can you help me with this: Solve the differential eq:

2(dy/dx) - 4xy = 5x ; (y=10 when x=1)

This is what i have so far:

dy/dx - 2xy = 5/2x

so, e^(-x^2)(dy/dx) - 2xye^(-x^2) = 5/2xe^(-x^2)

Dx (e^(-x^2)y) = 5/2xe^(-x^2)

I'm stuck. I know the next step involves substitution but I don't know how to proceed.

It is said that Galileo discovered a basic principle of the pendulum-that the period is independent of the amplitude-by using his pulse to time the period of swinging lamps in the cathedral as they swayed in the breeze. Suppose that one oscillation of a swinging lamp takes 5.5 s. How long is the lamp chain? What maximum speed does the lamp have if its maximum angle from vertical is 3.0 degrees?
