A molten substance is one that has been heated to melting point having no involvement with water.

Sodium can be produced by the electrolysis of brine (salt solution) or molten (melted) salt at 500°C.

Molten means that you melt the substance. For example, at 300-400C, NaOH or KOH melts into aliquid. Aqueous solution means that one dissolves NaOH or KOH in water at room temperature.
