I'm not sure which planet this is referring to, but here goes- a hot Jupiter was just discovered around the star 55 Cancri about 41 light years away. This planet is about 45 more massive than the Earth. Because it is so close to the star, it is tidally locked to its star which means that one side always faces that star resulting in the hottest known temperatures for a planet yet - over 3k degrees.
