I am in 8th grade and this is for a science fair project. I need to knowhow i can easily and cheeply measur air pollution around my neighboorhood.

i have a chemistry question and cant find the answer in the book. It asks
"How many electrons can occupy an orbital?"

i know that for n=1 you get 1
and for n=2 you get 4
and n=3 you get 9

but how high does it go an dhow man can occupy the orbital?

The heatt experienced by a hiker at a campfire is proportional to the amount of wood on the fire, and inversely proportional to the cube of his distance from the fire. If he is 20ft from the fire, and someone doubles the amount of wood burning, how far from the fire would have to be so that he feels the same heat as before?

So far I got this H = x W/d

H= heat
w= wood
d= distance

and then I got this H = x w^2/20^3

kx^2 + 2kx - 1 = 0

having equal roots, given that k does not = 0


i did b^2 - 4ac = 0

therefore 2k^2 - 4k + 4 = 0

but i cant factorise this :s is this correct? what now if so :s

do i use -b +/b^2-4ac / 2a?
