what is 'space'? Isn't it the absence of matter and energy? (which are ultimately the same thing according to Einstein)

What is *physical* existence? to have mass or matter?

Doesn't space by its own definition 'not exist'? space *is* nothingness, isnt it? It doesn't 'exist', but nothingness exists which defies intuition and logic.

You can see space, which is strange considering it doesn't exist, doesn't it?

There's a link to the photo. I coudn't find it anywhere on the web and it was a little disconcerting as the thing was about an inch in length and seemed really keen on landing on my face every time I tried to sleep! It has very long antennae, and the shape reminds me of a mosquito.

I really don't think it's a dragonfly before anyone mentions it:

I'd love to know what it is as I've honestly never seen one before and am deeply intrigued!

PS. I'm sorry about the terrible quality, it's the best I could do with my camera!

Are they conditions (or have there been conditions) when a mass which orbits a primary (similar to an asteroid belt) coalesces into a solid ring around that primary? I would like to assume that this mass has a radius similar to our distance form the sun and that the ring might posses enough gravity to hold an atmosphere. Under what conditions could this form?

Calculate the reaction free energy of

H2(g) + I2(g) 2HI(g)
when the concentrations are 0.026 mol L-1 (H2), 0.33 mol L-1 (I2), and 1.84 mol L-1 (HI), and the temperature is 700K. For this reaction Kc = 54 at 700 K.

a. +11.6 kJ mol-1
b. 0 kJ mol-1
c. -11.6 kJ mol-1
d. +2273 kJ mol-1

Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, Jack jumped over the candlestick with a velocity of 5.0 m/s at an angle of 30.0 degrees to the horizontal. Did Jack burn his feet on the 0.25 m high candle?

Here's the problem... I think I need to know the time of the jump to figure out if he would have made it over or not, but I can't figure out how to do it...
Can someone please explain to me how to do this?
Thanks in advance.

Dinosaur distributions
Lystrosaurus in Antarctica
Mantle convection
Paleomagnetism

9. When a ship passes over seafloor that has a 'reverse' magnetic polarization, how does this effect the magnetic field reading?

The magnetic field is directed east.
The magnetic field is directed south.
The magnetic field is directed west.
