yes! an done person said it is only men, that is not true, women can get it too but its ALMOST impossible, not actually impossible! its because the man only have 1 1/2 chromosomes to pass on and women have 2! the colour blind gene is found on the woman's chromosome at the end of the second one, where a man has nothing so there is only one trait and it cannot be hidden. i.e if you have "c" passed on to you as a trait you will have colourblindness but if you had "C" you wouldn't! the same chromosome determines the sex of the child, and i cant remember why but it turns out that women seldom occur where colourblindness is recessive! (its recessive trait so you don't have to be dominant, you have to be recessive to have it!)

First of all most color impaired can see all colors. Very few color blind people can only see in black in white (less than 1%).
Color blindness is the inability to perceive differences between some colors that other people can distinguish.
It is most often of genetic nature, but might also occur because of eye, nerve or brain damage or due to use of some chemical substances.
5%-8% of men and 0.5% of women are colorblind.
A color-defective male always inherits his deficiency from his mother, the mother however is not colorblind
The defect of color vision that is characterized by the inability to see the color red is called protanopia.
Everyone is colorblind at birth

Yes. The human gene for color blindness is carried on the X chromosome. Because of this, it is very rare for a woman to be colorblind, but it makes it quite possibly for a man to be colorblind. It is estimated that 5% of men are colorblind.

But don't believe all these people who say it is only males... It is VERY rare in females... but still possible (It's about 16x more likely to effect a male than a female)
