Hi, I have a degree that's totally unrelated (Archaeology), and I'm now 22 in a full-time job.

But all of a sudden, and I don't know why, I've become reeeeeally fascinated by animal behaviour, spefically how they react to their environment and the level of their self-awareness. I don't know why this is, as it literally came about whilst I was observing my cats and it's lit a fire in my belly.

What's a good place for me to start researching as a beginner? Are there any relevant publications/ weeklies? Can you do serious, scientific courses in to animal behaviour? Where abouts in the UK is renowned for this, and could I go straight in at postgrad level with some background reading?

Thanks!

I'm as small as an ant, as big as a whale. I'll approach like a breeeze, but can come like a gale. By some I get hit, but all have shown fear. I'll dance to the music, though I can't hear. Of names I have many, of names I have one. I'm as slow as a snail, but from me you can't run. What am I?

I think I've figured out the answer. If you have any faith in genetic evolution, surley whatever laid the egg must have been 99.9999% chiken, but not genetically a chiken. Due to a mutation in the growing chick, it became what we now know as a chicken what do you think? (Interested in hearing the creationist's view on this one).

i still seem to be struggling with limits here is the latest problem i don't understand

the question is:

The gravitational force exerted by earth on a unit mass at distance r from the center of the planet is

f(r) = GMr/R^3 if r GM/r^2 if r>or= to R
...where M is the mass of earth, R is its radius, and G is the gravitational constant. Is f a continuous function of r?

this is a piece wise fxn if that isn't clear.

How would I grind through it? Couldn't I use m>n with m=qn+r and then...

use GCD / Euclid's Algorithm.. and then..again..then..

i am sorta lost on finding limits, i think i understand the concepts, but am lacking in algebra possibly.

here is a prime question:

evaluate the limit lim x->7 (sqrt(x+2)+3/(x-7)

every time i try the problem, i end up with zero on the top and zero on the bottom... and i don't see anything that can factor.
what am i missing?
